Each Trust provides different support through their own wellbeing service, and they also will have a policy specific for menopause.
What should I do if I’m experiencing menopause?
Menopause can look different for everyone, with varying symptoms and different degrees of severity. Some symptoms may require intervention from healthcare services, so if you are concerned about your symptoms then please speak to your GP in the first instance.
If you think that your menopause may be difficult to manage at work, it is important that you let your manager know so that they can make arrangements to support you through this period. It can be difficult to speak about menopause as it can feel like a ‘taboo’. Managers at the NHS are trained to assist staff experiencing menopause and they will be able to help you.
If you still don’t feel comfortable speaking to your manager, please reach out to your wellbeing team for a conversation about how your Trust can best support you.
