What does being an Apprentice mean?

When you’re an apprentice:

  • You will get paid as well as working towards a qualification at the same time.
  • You will typically spend 20% of your working hours studying with an approved
training provider which usually equates to 1 day a week.
  • At the end of the apprenticeship, you will be fully competent in your chosen
    career area.
  • You will be able to access further, higher level apprenticeships at the end of
your current programme if you choose to progress on.

Who Pays for Apprenticeship Training?

Apprenticeships are fully funded by the NHS or Social Care providers Apprenticeship
Levy Fund. This means that the programme of study and the qualification comes
with no cost to the learner and has no impact on a learner’s wage.
